Perkunas
Press was founded in 1993. The first planned project
was a series of performance books related to traditional music.
At
about the time we published our first book, Harmonious Companions, Volume One, the Internet
arose as a phenomenon and our other lives became exponentially more busy.
Our publishing plans were forced to take a back seat (so many tunes, so little
time...).
We are working on some new projects and will continue the Press
work soon. Meanwhile, our first book remains
available.
Perkunas (per-KOO-nus) is the Lithuanian god of
thunder, the functional equivalent of the Norse god Thor.
His name
comes from the same Indo-European root as "oak" (Latin: quercus,
English: acorn & cork).
